The Real St Patrick Date: Friday, 12 March 2010 Note: The audio of this lecture, as well as a written article, are now available. Description: St Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, is commonly depicted as a Roman Catholic bishop and is widely thought to have brought Catholicism to Ireland. In popular folklore he is believed to have worked several miracles; notable among them the banishing of serpents from the island. But who is the real person behind the mythology and what did he believe in? Most importantly, what kind of gospel did he preach - a gospel of works salvation, or a gospel of salvation by grace alone? Further questions that will be answered:
